How Can persistent Cough Along With Throat Pain Be Treated?

Two years ago I had a brain tumor which when operated on I had a stroke which paralyzed my vocal cord and then was on a feeding tube. Subsequently after about 3 months was injected in my throat with (sorry, nor sure what but not botox). which allowed me then to eat and improvement in my voice. Ever since my stroke I have had a persistent cough. My Doctor has tried an inhaler of Symbicort which has helped but still cough and wretch 2 or 3 times a day. Do I just have to learn to live with it or do you have a suggestion. Thank you for any help you can give. Mary Anne Campbell
